West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences was established on 2 January 1995 under the West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences Act, 1995 to impart education and training and to conduct research in veterinary and animal sciences, dairy sciences and fishery sciences. It works through three faculties: Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Dairy Technology, and Fishery Sciences, which between them run bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes in those fields.
