Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship

University Grants Commission University Grants Commission (UGC) introduced the Single Girl Child Scholarship to empower the girls of our country through the means of education. This Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Postgraduate Girl students will encourage them to continue their Higher Education and also support financially, especially those girls who happen to be the only child of her parents.

Scholarship Overview

UGC Grant for Single Girl Child Scholarship

This scholarship is provided by the University Grant Commission. Girls students without having any brother or twin daughters are eligible for this scholarship. Candidates who are taking admission on Post Graduate regular course are only eligible. The application process for this scholarship is Online. The scholarship amount awarded to the girl student under this scheme is Rs. 32,600/- per year.

Eligibilty

  • This scholarship applicable only the Girl students.
  • Girls students, who had taken admission in a regular, full-time 1st year Master Degree (Postgraduate) course in any recognised University or a postgraduate college.
  • The age of the candidates must be within 30 years at the time of admission in the 1sf year of PG course.
  • The girl candidates must be the only child of her parents. The candidates must not have any brother though the girl students who are twin daughters / fraternal daughters can apply for this scholarship.
  • Students who are pursuing their PG course in Distance mode, are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Selected candidates for UGC Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship 2021 will receive Rs. 36,200 per annum as the amount of fellowship. The scholarship will continue upto 2 years, i.e. full duration of a PG course.

The total number of scholarships is 3000. That means every year UGC will select total of 3000 girls for Indira Gandhi Scholarship scheme.

Application Process

At the time of online application for UGC Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child, candidates have to upload some documents on the National Scholarship Portal. The list of required documents for this scholarship is mentioned below.

  • Copy of Aadhar Card / Aadhar Enrollment.
  • PG Course Admission Receipt.
  • Marksheet of the last exam passed.
  • Passport Size Photograph and Signature
  • Income certificate issued by the Component Authority.
  • Single Girl Child certificate issued by the Component Authority.
  • Scanned copy of bank passbook.
  • Residential / Domicile Certificate.

  • Register on the National Scholarship Portal.
  • Provide your complete academic and personal communication details.
  • Choose the PG INDIRA GANDHI SCHOLARSHIP FOR SINGLE GIRL CHILD from the scholarship dashboard.
  • Now apply for this scholarship by providing some extra information.
  • Upload the scanned copies of required documents.
  • Submit the online scholarship application form and take a print out the confirmation page.

Check Scholarship Application Status

Students who applied for the PG Indira Gandhi Scholarship 2021-22, can check their scholarship application status online. Follow the steps.

  • Visit the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
  • Login with your Application ID and Password.
  • On the dashboard, you can check the scholarship, for which you already applied.
  • Click on the scholarship name and you can know the current status of your application for the scholarship scheme.
