Eligibilty & Entry Requirements
What is the eligibility asked for the MS course?
The students are advised to check the eligibility of the course before taking admission. The candidate should meet all the requirements of the course in order to get admission. If the student doesn't meet all the requirements, he/she will not get admission into the course.
- The student should have an MBBS degree with 50% marks for General Category Candidates. It is 40% for the students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes from a recognised medical college/institute.
- The student should have completed the one-year mandatory rotatory internship and get the completion certificate of the same issued by March 31 of the academic year.
- The student should have a provisional or permanent registration certificate issued by MCI or State Medical Council (SMC).
- Admission is strictly done based on academic merit.
- The student should have qualified for the relevant entrance exam with requisite marks. Some colleges conduct their own entrance exam while some accept national-level entrance examination marks like the NEET PG exam.
Some of the top entrance examinations for MS courses are given below.
- NEET PG- The full form of this examination is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Postgraduate). It is a national-level medical entrance examination which is conducted by the National Board of Education (NBE).
- AIIMS PG- This examination is conducted by AIIMS. It is an institute-level entrance examination.
- PGIMER- It is a university-level examination conducted twice a year in January and July by the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER). Through this exam, the students get admission into various postgraduate courses in medical science like DM/MCH, Research Fellowship, and Medical diploma etc.
