What is the GATE 2023 examination?
The GATE 2023 exam is a national-level engineering examination. This year, the exam is going to be conducted by the IIT Kanpur (Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur). The conducting body has already announced the GATE exam dates. The exam was conducted on February 4, 5, 11 and 12, 2023. The officials announced the answer keys of the GATE 2023 exam on 21 February 2023, The result will be announced on 16 March 2023. This year, the GATE 2023 exam was conducted in 219 cities for 29 disciplines.
Through the GATE exam, students can pursue higher education in Science, Engineering, and technology-related fields from the top IITs in the country. Last year the exam was conducted by the IIT Kharagpur. The exam is conducted every year by the IIISc Bangalore or any of the 7 IITs present in India.
Exam Pattern
What is the exam pattern of GATE 2023 exam?
The GATE 2023 exam is a computer-based exam in which a total of 65 questions are asked. The total marks are 100. The question type in the exam is MCQ type (multiple choice questions). For every wrong answer, one mark will be deducted. There are negative marks for each incorrectly answered the question. The students can check the exam pattern below.

GATE 2023 Marks Allotted:
10 questions from General aptitude will be asked for a total of 15 marks (15% of the total marks) in all the papers. This section is designed to check the student's language and analytical skills.
In subjects with the following codes AE, AG, BM, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PE, PI, TF and XE, Mathematics Paper will constitute 15% and General Aptitude will constitute 15% of the total marks. The remaining 70% will be constituted by the core subject-based questions.
For subjects with codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, ST and XL, 15% of the total marks go for General Aptitude. The other 85% is for the core subject-based questions.

Eligibilty
What is the eligibility required for the GATE 2023 exam?
It is important to fulfil the requirements of the exam otherwise the application form can be rejected by the authority. So as an aspirant of the GATE exam, the students are advised to first check their eligibility for the exam before going for registration.
The eligibility criteria for the GATE 2023 exam are provided below.

What is the eligibility required for B.Tech/ BE/ B.Pharma students?
The student should have a bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology (4 years after 10+ 2 or 3 years after diploma in Engineering/ Technology). A student who is in the third year is also allowed to sit for the exam.
What is the eligibility required for B.Arch students?
The student should have a bachelor's degree in Architecture (5-year course)/ Planning (4-year course) / Naval Architecture (4-year course). The student in the last year can also apply for the exam.
What is the eligibility required for foreign students?
The aspirant should have completed a bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology. The aspirant who has completed his/her postgraduation in any relevant subject can also apply for the exam.
The students in their final year are eligible to apply. The minimum duration of the course should be 3 years.
Students from Nepal, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Srilanka, UAE, and Singapore are allowed to sit for the exam.

Exam Syllabus
What is the GATE 2023 syllabus?
The GATE syllabus is decided by the conducting body of the exam. The syllabus of the exam can be found on the official website of the exam.
The General Aptitude section and Engineering Mathematics sections are common for all the subjects and disciplines. General Aptitude constitutes 15% of the total paper weightage.
Every subject is divided into two categories, one is Core Topics and the other is Special Topics. 90% of the paper will constitute core topics and 10% of the paper will have special topics. The students who choose to take up two subject papers in the examination should do so by first checking the list of approved subject combinations and the list will be created based on the availability of infrastructure and exam date.
Result & Counselling
GATE 2023 Results:
The authority has not released the results of the exam. The result of the exam is expected to be released on 16 March 2023. The candidates can follow below mentioned steps while downloading the scorecard from the website.
Step 1: Go to the official website.
Step 2: Login into your account.
Step 3: Click on the result button and enter your roll number.
Step 4: Your result will be displayed on the screen.
Step 5: Download your scorecard and save it for future use.
Registration & Application Process
How to Register for the GATE 2023 exam?
The students are advised to follow the below-mentioned steps to successfully register for the GATE 2023 exam.
- Step 1: Go to the official website.
- Step 2: Now register yourself on the website.
- Step 3: After the registration is completed, the student will receive his/her login credentials on his/her registered email id and mobile number.
- Step 4: Now Log in to the registered account and click on the 'Apply' button.
- Step 5: Fill in all the personal details and upload all your important documents and images like photograph, signature, certificate of qualifying degree, category certificate (SC/ ST/ PwD), and/ or learning disabilities certificate, wherever applicable.
- Step 6: In this step, the student will do the fee payment of the form.
- Step 7: Now the candidate will submit the form and save a copy of it for future use.

Fields that can be corrected in the form:
