University of Rajasthan

The University of Rajasthan is a state university in Jaipur. Legislation was promulgated on 8 January 1947 federating the colleges of the Rajputana states into the University of Rajputana, which came into existence in July the same year with Dr G. S. Mahajani as its first Vice-Chancellor. It began as an affiliating university with twenty-two colleges in different parts of the state, and the foundation stone of its campus was laid on 20 February 1949.
