University of Mysore

The University of Mysore was established on 27 July 1916. It is the sixth oldest in the country and the first in the state of Karnataka, and in a sense the first university in the country to be established outside the limits of British India. It was founded through the efforts of the Maharaja of the erstwhile princely state of Mysore, Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV, and the then Diwan, Sir M. Visvesvaraya. Its administrative offices are at Crawford Hall in Mysuru and its postgraduate campus is Manasagangotri.
