Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University is a state university at Karapakkam in Chennai, created by Act No. 33 of 2008 of the Government of Tamil Nadu, which came into effect on 1 July 2008 through a gazette notification. It is devoted to teacher education, runs six departments of its own and monitors 731 affiliated colleges of education across Tamil Nadu, including government, government-aided and self-financing colleges.
