It dates its own journey to 1999, when it began with 22 students, and it now runs 11 institutes. The university is the work of Pooja and Pankaj Agarwal, both IIT Kanpur graduates from the batch of 1998, and it is named after Shri Ramswaroop Agarwal (1925-1980), whose belief in value-based education the university describes as the inspiration behind its founding.
