Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, formerly Amravati University, is a state university in Amravati, Maharashtra. It was established on Maharashtra Day, 1 May 1983, mainly to serve the educational needs of the rural population of western Vidarbha, and its jurisdiction runs across the five districts of Amravati, Akola, Yavatmal, Buldana and Washim. Its 470.63-acre campus holds 28 teaching departments and four faculties, and the university also conducts a Model Degree College at Buldana.
