Punjab Agricultural University is a state agricultural university in Ludhiana, Punjab, established in 1962. It traces its academic origin to the Punjab Agriculture College and Research Institute at Lyallpur of 1906, which was re-established at Amritsar after Partition, moved to Ludhiana in 1949 and to the present site in 1957. Jawaharlal Nehru formally inaugurated the university on 8 July 1963. It now runs six constituent colleges and holds the Kisan Melas it began in 1967.
