Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology is a deemed to be university at Vallam near Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. It opened in 1988 as Periyar Maniammai College of Technology for Women, founded by the Periyar Maniammai Educational and Charitable Society of Chennai and named after the social reformer E.V. Ramasamy and his wife Maniammaiar, with the aim of opening engineering education to women. It took its present name in 2007. The campus sits 10 km west of Thanjavur and 45 km east of Tiruchirapalli.
