Maharshi Dayanand University is a state university in Rohtak, Haryana, established under Haryana Act No. 25 of 1975 to promote inter-disciplinary higher education and research with emphasis on environmental, ecology and life sciences studies. It runs 10 faculties with 42 university teaching departments, centres and institutes, along with a satellite campus, MDU-CPAS, in Gurugram. Its Centre for Distance and Online Education began as a correspondence cell in 1988.
