Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences is a rural medical college in Sevagram, Wardha district, Maharashtra, set up in 1969 during the Gandhi Centenary year as India's first rural medical college. Founded by Dr Sushila Nayar and run by the Kasturba Health Society with its attached Kasturba Hospital, it enrolled its first batch of 60 students that year and teaches MBBS and postgraduate medical courses.
