K L University in Vaddeswaram, Andhra Pradesh, began as KL College of Engineering, started by the Koneru Lakshmaiah Charities trust in the 1980-81 academic year at Vijayawada. The Koneru Lakshmaiah Charities trust became the Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation society in 1996. The present 50-acre campus sits on the banks of the Buckingham Canal near the Krishna river, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in engineering and other disciplines.
