Jamia Hamdard was founded in 1963 as Hamdard Tibbi College by Hakim Abdul Hameed, tracing its origins to a small Unani medicine clinic his father set up in 1906. Based in Hamdard Nagar, New Delhi, it teaches Unani and modern medicine, pharmacy and natural sciences through undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, and runs the Majeedia Unani Hospital.
