What is the IPU CET 2023 exam?

The full form of IPU CET is Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test. This exam is conducted by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University for admission to various B.Tech courses. Students willing to study at GGSIPU should undergo and qualify for the entrance test. The popular B.Tech programmes offered by the GGSIPU university are Computer Science Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Power Engineering, Mechatronics, Bio-Chemical Engineering, Tool Engineering and Information Technology. Apart from engineering programmes, the college also offers admission to B.Sc Nursing, BBA, BCA, B.Ed, LLB, MBA, etc. Admissions to GGSIPU and its affiliated colleges are based on the basis of IPU CET scores. The exam is held once a year.

What is IPU CET 2023 Exam pattern?

Every year the university conducts the exam in pen and paper mode, where the candidates are bound to answer all the 150 questions, except for English (M.A.) in which there are 100 MCQs for Part I while Part II has essay-type questions and 200 MCQs for B.Tech (Bio-Tech) CET. The applicants choose the correct answer or the most appropriate one out of four alternatives. For each correct answer, the student gets 4 marks. For the wrong answer, one mark is deducted. The duration of the written test is 2.30 hours for 600 marks. For B.Tech (Bio-Tech), the duration of the exam is 3 hours. It will carry 800 marks. The test will be conducted in English. 

What is the eligibility required for IPU CET 2023 exam?

The students wanting to appear for IPU CET 2023 examination, are advised to check the eligibility criteria of the exam before going for registration. As failing to fulfil the requirements of the exam, the aspirant's form will be rejected and he/she will not get admission. The eligibility criteria for the exam is as follows.

• The candidate should be a citizen of India.
• The applicant should have qualified his/her 12th standard or equivalent exam from a recognised Board/ University.
• He/she should have scored at least 55% marks in aggregate to be eligible for the B.Tech exam.
• The candidates who have done the higher secondary exam with a Diploma with 60% marks in aggregate are eligible to apply for the B.Tech course.
• Candidates with a B.Sc degree can also fill the application form. They should have got a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate.
• For admission to M.Tech programmes, a degree in B.Tech with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate is asked.
• The candidate should be between 17-21 years old.

What is the syllabus of IPU CET 2023?

In the IPU CET exam, the questions are asked from 3 major subjects which are Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The level of the subjects is 10+2. Candidates appearing for the M.Tech programmes will have to prepare as per the GATE syllabus. Each section – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics carries equal weightage (33%).

Result

The University will declare the IPU CET result 2023 soon after the exam. The result is released online. The candidates can check their rank by entering their credentials on the website. The result will have the candidate’s name, category, rank, and roll number. The merit list is prepared on the basis of marks scored by test-takers in the common entrance test. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the IPU CET counselling 2023.

Counselling

Candidates are called for three-round counselling on the basis of their marks and AIR ranks. A counselling fee of INR 1000 is charged to the registered candidates. After receiving an invitation for counselling, the students are required to report to the counselling authority along with all the required documents on the date and venue of the scheduled counselling. The candidates are allocated seats in the colleges on the basis of their ranks, marks, their choice and the availability of the seats. 

The IPU CET registration process for 2023 is expected to start in March 2023 and will continue till May 2023. The students are advised to keep the documents ready before filling out the online application form. Here is the detailed process of registration. 

• Go the official website of Indraprastha University.
• Then register for the course by providing basic details like name, address, gender, nationality, DOB, email id and mobile number.
• Now enter academic details like qualifying exam, passing year, marks obtained, etc.
• Click on the Agree to Terms and Conditions button and confirm the details provided.
• A login ID and password will be generated and sent to your registered email ID.
• Use the credentials to log in. Select the course that you want to apply to.
• The next step is to release the application fee and complete the process.
• Upload the scanned copies of the photograph, signature and left thumb impression.
