Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) is one of the popular state-level engineering entrance exams administered by the DTE (Directorate of Technical Education). Besides the engineering course, the students after clearing the exam can think of pursuing pharmacy courses. Moreover, the authority takes the application forms for architecture and medical courses based on NATA and NEET scores respectively.

What is the GCET 2023 examination?

The full form of the GCET exam is the Goa Common Entrance Test. It is a state-level entrance test conducted by DTE Goa for admissions to professional degree courses in Engineering offered at various colleges in Goa. Every year the application form for GCET is released online on the official website of the exam ie dte.goa.gov.in. In the GCET exam, multiple type questions are asked.

This year, the GCET exam for Pharmacy and Engineering courses is going to be conducted on 13 May and 14 May 2023. The application form for the same is expected to release soon by the authorities. The application form can be submitted in online and offline mode both. The language of the exam is English.

The aspirants who are going to appear in this year's GCET 2023 exam are advised to check the exam pattern before preparing for the examination. This will give them an idea of the question paper. Eligibilty

What is the eligibility required for the GCET 2023 exam?

The course-wise eligibility criteria for the examination are provided below for the students' reference. The students are advised to check the eligibility of the course before registering for the examination.

GCET B.E Eligibility Criteria:

B.E./ B. Pharmacy:

Nationality: Only Indian nationals are eligible to appear in GCET 2023 exam. Non-resident Indians holding Indian passports can also apply for seats reserved under the NRI category. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders are also eligible for admissions to seats under NRI Category.

Age: There is no age limit specified for admission to Engineering and Pharmacy Courses.

Qualifying Exam: The student should have passed the 10+2 Examination from a recognised board/institute. The students who have passed, or are appearing in HSSC,10+2, or equivalent exam before the start of the academic session will also be eligible to appear in GCET 2023.

Subject Combination & Minimum Marks: The aspirant should have cleared the 10+2 examination or its equivalent with any one of the following subjects Chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Computer Science/ Biology with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate in Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Computer Science/ Biology. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, and OBC categories need to have 40% for the same criteria.

Reserved Categories: The students claiming seats in the reserved category of SC/ST/OBC will be required to submit their caste certificate.

For Kashmiri Migrants: The student should have qualified the 10+2 or equivalent exam with English, Physics, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects -  Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology and obtained minimum 45% marks in Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology.

GCET B.Arch Eligibility Criteria

NATA: The student should have a valid score in NATA entrance exam as conducted by COA.

Qualifying Exam: The student should have passed Higher Secondary School Certificate exam of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent with Mathematics as one of the subjects and secured minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% aggregate marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC). OR

The aspirant should have done 10+3 Diploma (any stream) passed/ appearing recognized by Central/State Govts with 50% aggregate marks with Mathematics. OR

The student should have completed International Baccalaureate Diploma after 10 years of schooling, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory exam subject.

Result & Counselling

GCET 2023 results:

The GCET exam results are announced on the official website of the exam by DTE, Goa. The students can check their results online. On the basis of scores, GCET 2023 merit list will be prepared by the authorities.

How to check GCET result 2023?

The students can follow the steps below to check the result of GCET 2023.

  • 1st Step - visit the official website - dte.goa.gov.in
  • 2nd Step - Click on the GCET result link.
  • 3rd Step - The result will be shown on the screen in the form of a PDF
  • 4th Step - Download it and take a printout of the same
GCET 2023 counselling:

The mode of GCET 2023 counselling is offline. The schedule for the same is released online on the website. For participating in the counselling process, the students will have to first register themselves for it. The seat allotment is done according to students’ merit, specified choices and availability of seats. The students who will be allotted seats during any round of counselling will have to visit the institution within three working days and obtain acknowledgement, otherwise, their admission will be cancelled. 

Steps of GCET 2023 counselling process:

1st Step: Registration- In this step, the student will fill in all necessary information which includes name, category, registration number, GCET 2023 score, Gender etc.,

2nd Step: Upload Documents- In this step, the student will upload all required documents in the specified format.

3rd Step: Reporting for Document verification- After the release of the merit list, the students will have to get their documents verified.

4th Step: Seat Allotment- Seats will be allocated to the students on the basis of merit, preference and seat availability.

5th Step: Reporting at Allocated Institute- Lastly the student will need to report at the allocated institute as per the schedule to confirm their admission. 

Registration & Application Process

What is the registration and admission process for the GCET 2023 examination?

The application form for GCET 2023 will be released online on the official website of the exam. The application can be submitted online or offline. The students who will submit the offline in offline mode will have to submit the GCET forms in person at the CAD section, Directorate of Technical Education, Porvorim.

How to fill out the GCET 2023 application form - Offline:

  • Goto to the official website - dte.goa.gov.in
  • Click on the 'GCET 2023 application form link.
  • Download the application form as a PDF file and take a printout of the same.
  • Fill it as per the instructions.
  • Append the photocopies of necessary documents.
  • Application fee of Rs.2000 has to be paid through Demand Draft. DD should be drawn in favor of "Director of Technical Education", payable at Porvorim.
  • The filled-in application form should be submitted to the admission office on or before the specified date.

How to fill out GCET online application form 2023?

  • Go to the official website of DTE Goa.
  • Now register yourself on the website. Once registration is completed, the student will get login credentials on the registered email id or mobile number.
  • Now login with your credentials and fill out the application form with the necessary information.
  • Now upload all the required documents and images in the prescribed format.
  • Lastly, pay the application fees and submit the form.
  • After submission, the student is advised to download the confirmation page for future use.
