Exam Overview
FMGE - Foreign Medical Graduate Examination is a screening test for medical graduates to be eligible to practice medicine in the country. FMGE is basically an Indian Medical Licensing Test. FMGE exam is conducted biannually in the month of June and December by the National Board of Examinations for Indian and Overseas Citizens of India (OCis) to obtain the registration certificate from the National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council (SMC).

The FMGE exam is conducted in a computer-based mode across the country. As per the FMGE exam pattern, the test is usually divided into two parts - Part A and Part B. Each part contains 150 questions, making a total of 300 questions. The questions in the FMGE exam are asked from the MBBS curriculum. As per the marking scheme, one mark is awarded for every correct answer, while there is no negative marking.
NBE releases the FMGE result at its official website ie natboard.edu.in in PDF format. To be included in FMGE results, aspirants will have to obtain at least 150 marks out of 300. Qualified candidates will be able to download their FMGE 2023 scorecards and pass certificates on the dates announced by NBE.
Eligibilty
Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian national or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)
Qualification: The candidate should possess a primary medical qualification, which is confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned
Documents: Candidates have to submit proof of primary medical qualification. If someone fails to submit the required documents within the stipulated time will not be considered eligible for FMGE 2023.
Exemptions: Candidates who have completed their undergraduate medical qualification from the below-mentioned countries do not have to appear for FMGE for registration with MCI, provided they are eligible to enrol as medical practitioners in the respective country.

Exam Syllabus
FMGE 2023 syllabus is designed by the Medical Council of India (MCI). It is then published in the official information brochure of FMGE 2023 by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). Aspirants of FMGE 2023 are advised to go through the syllabus at least once during the preparation phase. FMGE syllabus 2023 comprises all the topics that were covered during the undergraduate medical degree course.
The syllabus of FMGE 2023 can broadly be divided into the following subjects: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, General Surgery, Anaesthesia, Orthopaedics, Radio-Diagnosis, Radiotherapy, Paediatrics, Medicine, Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, Psychiatry, Dermatology and Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Community Medicine.
Registration & Application Process
The admission process starts with registration. The application form for FMGE 2023 will be released online by NBE. Eligible candidates who wish to appear for FMGE 2023 will have to get themselves enrolled on the official website of NBE. Upon completion of this process, candidates will be allowed to fill out the FMGE 2023 application form. After filling in all details, candidates will have to pay the application fee. For FMGE 2023 exam, candidates will have to pay INR 7,080 as an application fee. NBE will also open the edit window to modify certain details in FMGE 2023 application form.
