What is the CA Foundation exam 2023?

The CA Foundation examination is for those students who want to become Chartered Accountants (CA). The exam is conducted twice a year by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). This exam is an entry-level exam. Once the student clears this exam, he/she will need to qualify for the intermediate and Final exams to become a CA.

The exam is conducted in offline mode (pen and paper-based). The language of the paper is English and aspirants get 3 hours to solve the paper. Registration for the examination is done through the official website of the exam. Once the student successfully registers for the exam, he/she is advised to check the eligibility criteria, syllabus, exam pattern etc of the exam to understand the exam properly. 

This year, the CA Foundation June session is going to be conducted from June 24 to June 30, 2023. The registration for the same started on 3 February 2023. The last date for filling out the form was 24 February 2023. In case any student has missed the chance to fill out the application form for the CA Foundation 2023 exam, he/she can fill the form by 3 March 2023 with late fees. The result of the same will be announced in August.

The exam is conducted twice. Once in June then in December. The December session dates are still not announced by the authorities. Once the dates are out, the student can check them on the official website of the exam.

What is the CA Foundation 2023 exam pattern?

The CA Foundation 2023 exam is divided into 4 papers. In each paper, 100 questions are asked from different subjects of business accountancy. These 4 papers are as follows.

1) Paper 1- Principles and Practice of Accounting

2) Paper 2- Business Laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting

3) Paper 3- Business Mathematics, Logical Reasoning and Statistics

4) Paper 4- Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge

The results for the CA Foundation 2023 will be announced by the ICAI after the exam. The students will be able to check their qualifying status for the Chartered Accountancy Foundation exam online on the official website.

How to check the CA Foundation 2023 Result?

The steps needed in downloading CA Foundation results are given below for students.

• Step 1: Go to the official website of ICAI.
• Step 2: Click on 'Foundation Exam Results'.
• Step 3: You will be redirected to the 'Exam Results' page where the students will enter their credentials (6-digit roll number and pin number/registration number of the student).
• Step 4: the student will need to enter the Captcha as shown in the box provided and click on 'Submit'.
• Step 5: The result will appear on the screen.

CA Foundation 2023 Scorecard Details

The result for the CA Foundation 2023 exam will have the following details.

• Minimum and maximum marks
• Total marks obtained
• Qualifying status

The students who will get a minimum of 70% marks in the CA Foundation 2023, will receive a “Pass with Distinction” certificate from the ICAI.

After the CA Foundation 2023 results are out, the ICAI will publish the merit list of the top 50 ranked students who cracked the exam on the website. The students will need to click on the 'Merit list' option and enter their roll number/registration number to access the merit list.

The CA Foundation 2023 application form is available on the official website. The students can visit the website and apply for the CA foundation. Candidates have to submit the application form before the last date.

• Step 3: Now the student will register himself/herself as a 'New User' by filling in all the required details.
