The University of Calicut is a state university in Kerala, established in 1968 and the second university to be started in the state. It is governed by the Calicut University Act 1975 and serves the Malabar region of northern Kerala, with 34 postgraduate departments and 406 affiliated colleges. The main campus is at Tenhipalam, 24 km south of Kozhikode, and spreads over 520 acres; it also runs off-campus centres at Thrissur and in Wayanad.
