Tezpur University is a central university in Sonitpur district, Assam, on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra about 180 km north-east of Guwahati.
Tezpur University is a central university in Sonitpur district, Assam, on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra about 180 km north-east of Guwahati. It was established on 21 January 1994 by the Tezpur University Act, 1993 as a non-affiliating, residential university. Its statutes charge it with offering employment-oriented and interdisciplinary courses that meet the development needs of Assam, and with research in areas of direct relevance to the region and in emerging areas of science and technology.
