SRM Institute of Science and Technology is a university at Kattankulathur near Chennai, with further campuses at Ramapuram, Vadapalani and Baburayanpettai in and around Chennai and at Tiruchirappalli, Modinagar, Sonepat, Amaravati and Gangtok. It began in 1985 as SRM Engineering College at Kattankulathur, part of the SRM group of institutions started in 1968. It teaches undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in six faculties: engineering and technology, management, medicine and health sciences, science and humanities, law, and agricultural sciences.
