Sri Venkateswara University is a state university at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, on a campus of 1000 acres below the Tirumala hills. It was founded in 1954 to serve the Rayalaseema region, on the initiative of Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu and Neelam Sanjiva Reddy, and opened with one college and six departments. It now has five constituent colleges, of Arts, Sciences, Commerce Management and Computer Science, Pharmacy and Engineering, and teaches postgraduate courses in arts, sciences, law, management, education, physical education, engineering and pharmacy.
