Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is an autonomous, technical and fully residential university at Katra in Jammu and Kashmir. It was established under The Jammu and Kashmir Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Act, 1999, and started functioning as an academic unit in August 2004, when it was inaugurated on 19 August 2004 by the then President of India, Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Teaching is organised under four faculties: Engineering, Sciences, Management, and Humanities and Social Sciences.
