Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology stands at Longowal in Sangrur district, Punjab. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, set it up in 1989 in memory of Sant Longowal, and it was formally inaugurated on 20 December 1991. It is an autonomous body, fully funded by the Government of India and controlled by the SLIET Society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. Its 451-acre campus was given by the Punjab government, and it awards its own certificates, diplomas and undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral qualifications.
