It was established as a state private university in 2017 and grew out of Sanjay Ghodawat Institute, formed in 2009 by the chairman of the SG Group, Sanjay Ghodawat. Its teaching is divided into faculties of science and technology, commerce and management, humanities and social sciences, and interdisciplinary studies, with schools covering engineering, computer applications, physical and chemical sciences, life sciences, pharmacy, commerce and management, law, media and design.
