IIIT Una is an Institute of National Importance established in 2014-15 under India's Ministry of Education, with the Government of Himachal Pradesh, HP Power Corporation Limited and HP Transmission Corporation Limited as Public-Private Partnership partners. Undergraduate admissions are made through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The institute now operates from its permanent campus at Saloh, Una, having moved there from a transit campus at NIT Hamirpur in October 2021.
