Government Medical College, Kozhikode, Kerala, commonly known as GMC-Kozhikode, earlier known as Calicut Medical College, (CMC), Cochin is a prestigious medical institution in Kerala, established in 1957 run and managed by the Government of Kerala. The vast and sprawling Medical College campus is spread over an extensive area of 270 acres (1.1 km²) and is located about 8 km east of the heart of Kozhikode city. It was formerly affiliated with the University of Calicut and is now affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur, Kerala It is a Government Medical College in Kerala. The college is now recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) as the National Medical Commission (NMC), the college is situated at Medical College Junction, Mavoor Road, Kozhikode, Kerala-673008. Government Medical College, Kozhikode (Calicut Medical College) is a medical college in Kozhikode, Kerala, established in 1957 as the state's second medical college. Its foundation stone was laid on 29 May 1957 by the then Governor of Kerala, B. Ramakrishna Rao, and it was formally inaugurated on 5 August 1957 by the state Health Minister, A. R. Menon. The campus spans about 270 acres roughly 8 km east of Kozhikode city.
