The Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics in Pune was established in 1930 by the Servants of India Society through an endowment from Sir Raobahadur R. R. Kale, continuing work associated with social reformer Gopal Krishna Gokhale. Its own site describes it as India's oldest research and training institute in economics, based in Shivajinagar, Deccan.
