Act No. 28 of 2005) and came into being on 4 January 2006, originally incorporated as the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law Institute before the word "Institute" was replaced with "University" later that year. It is located in the Kanpur Road Scheme area of Lucknow.
