Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences in Vijayawada was inaugurated in 1986 through Andhra Pradesh Act No.
Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, headquartered in Vijayawada, was inaugurated on 9 April 1986 as the University of Health Sciences under an Andhra Pradesh Act of 1986. It took over Siddhartha Medical College and seven other teaching institutions in 1986-87, and was renamed NTR University of Health Sciences in 1998 and Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences under Act 16 of 2006.
