Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science & Technology in Murthal, Sonepat traces to Chhotu Ram State College of Engineering, founded in 1987, which was upgraded to a university by Act 29 of the Haryana state legislature in 2006. Spread over 273 acres on National Highway 1, it teaches engineering, architecture, science, humanities and management, and functions as an affiliating university for colleges in the region.
