CHRIST was established as Christ College in Bengaluru in 1969, its first academic year beginning on 15 July that year.
CHRIST was established as Christ College in Bengaluru in 1969, its first academic year beginning on 15 July that year. It grew out of the educational vision of Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a nineteenth-century educationalist and social reformer in south India, and is run by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate, the congregation he founded in 1831. It teaches bachelor, master and doctoral programmes in humanities, social sciences, sciences, commerce, management, engineering, architecture, education and law, at campuses in Bangalore, Lavasa in Pune and Ghaziabad in Delhi NCR.
