Banasthali Vidyapith began in October 1935 as Shri Shantabai Shiksha Kutir, opening with about half a dozen girls in the village of Banasthali, and took its present name in 1943, the year undergraduate courses were first introduced. It is a residential institution for women and teaches girls from the pre-primary stage up to the doctoral level.
