Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam, established in 1923 is the oldest medical college in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The College is affiliated to the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada and is recognized by the Medical Council of India. It offers a wide range of UG, PG , super speciality and diploma courses, the admission to which are completely based on the students’ rank in the NEET , NEET-PG and NEET-SS exams. Moreover, the college is attached to some of the top government teaching hospitals in Visakhapatnam, which includes colleges such as, King George Hospital (KGH) Government Chest Hospital, Government ENT, Regional Eye Hospital and Government Hospital for Mental Care, Visakhapatnam, etc.
Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam, opened on 1 July 1923 as Vizagapatam Medical College with an inaugural batch of 32 students under first principal Lt Col Frederick Jasper Anderson. It was renamed Andhra Medical College by government gazette notification on 29 February 1940, and its campus sits on Medical College Road next to King George Hospital.
