The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences is a government medical college at Sri Vijaya Puram, formerly Port Blair, created by upgrading the GB Pant district hospital under the centrally sponsored scheme for new medical colleges attached to existing district and referral hospitals. It came into being on 1 September 2015 and is run by the Andaman and Nicobar Medical Education and Research Society under the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, on 107 acres the administration had set aside for a medical college in the mid-1980s.
