Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham traces its beginnings to 1994, when a School of Engineering was set up at Ettimadai, a village at the foothills of the Bouluvanpatty ranges of the Western Ghats in Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu, starting with 120 students and 13 faculty members. It has since grown to ten campuses across six states of India. The schools at Coimbatore cover architecture, law, artificial intelligence, social and behavioural sciences, computing, arts and humanities, physical sciences, engineering, business and agricultural sciences.
