The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) India released the 2020 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings for educational institutions in India on Thursday, 11th June.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework or NIRF is an annual ranking framework of MHRD India. NIRF was launched in 2015 and its first rankings were released in 2016. This year, NIRF 2020 has ranked institutions across 10 categories: Overall, University, Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, College, Medical, Law, Architecture and Dental.
IIT Madras and IISc Bangalore grabbed the first two ranks, followed by IIT Delhi on the third position and IIT Bombay on the fourth among all colleges and universities in the country. All these four institutions have maintained their last year positions.
The MHRD NIRF annual rankings are usually announced in April but this year it had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
