Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) is a State Agricultural University located in the Hyderabad city of Indian State Telangana. The University was established on June 12, 1964, by Late Shri Bahadur Lal Shashtri (then, Prime Minister of India) with an aim to provide opportunities for the citizens of the state and the country for education in the field of agriculture in its broad sense and to promote research, field and extension programs in agriculture and allied sciences. It offers various UG, PG, Ph.D., and Polytechnic courses in streams like Agricultural Sciences, Engineering and Home Science, etc. since inceptions.
Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University was established as Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University on 12 June 1964 under the APAU Act 1963, with O. Pulla Reddi as its first Vice Chancellor, and was renamed in November 1996 after the parliamentarian and farmers' leader Acharya N. G. Ranga. The bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act 2014 split off a separate Telangana agricultural university, and the university now works from Lam, Guntur, serving the students and farmers of Andhra Pradesh.
